Is a DSL Provider Really for You?

Posted December 2nd, 2008 by
Categories: Computer & Technology

In the gratification-based society that we currently live in, the focus on speed from cable or DSL providers seems to be a top consideration when deciding if you should go for high speed Internet access. While all of us occasionally have the need for speed, sometimes it is difficult to determine how much speed we actually need.  Testing your speed and neighbors connections can help you identify if high speed is for you, and if so, how fast you may want to travel the information superhighway. You can display it in a variety of ways. For example, you can choose to hang it. You can place it in a table top stand. Fall in Love With Greenhouse Gardening

Posted October 31st, 2008 by
Categories: Home Decor

The Fall season was always a little bittersweet, as we prepared our gardens for the first real frost, and took the last harvests of tomatoes and pumpkins, squash and peppers.  It always left me wishing I had a way to garden year-round.  So when we purchased what would be our first plastic greenhouse, I was skeptical that I could get used to the idea of tending to living, growing plants in the dead of a Tennessee winter.  But as time slowly moved through the months of January and February, I still had an abundant crop of baby lettuces, herbs, and yes, even some sweet, ripe cherry tomatoes! An Ancient Art meets Nature’s Embrace

Aromatherapy, the ancient healing art that uses essential oils extracted from trees and plants has come together with science to create Natural Shine Shampoo from Nature’s Embrace, a gentle cleaner based upon the fundamentals of using herbs and flower extracts for their innate healing properties.  Essential oils have the ability to be absorbed either through the skin or by entering the olfactory-respiratory system through inhalation.  This clean rinse formula is designed to heal minor skin irritations, exfoliate dead skin and balance a wide range of dog skin types.  It is an excellent choice for dogs with allergies, expectant mothers and even puppies.  No pesticides, synthetic fragrances or soaps will irritate an already sensitive dog’s skin or coat, thereby creating secondary infections.  This amazing blend of essential oils has antiseptic, antibiotic, healing and soothing properties. A Job That Rewards Continuously

Posted July 7th, 2008 by
Categories: Education

Last year I decided to take on the challenge of a new job. It would be a job like none other that I had ever had, home schooling my 8 year old boy. I am not a certified teacher but my heart was led to teach him at home. It was the greatest challenge I had ever accepted.

The first part of the year was filled with exciting adventures; making volcanoes and Solar System replicas. I worried that I would not be good enough for my son, as a teacher, but I soon realized that getting to know him in a very different way proved to be the best job I have ever had. I found a certain peace being at home with him and learning right along side of him. I was realizing him as a person, and not just a kid.

Of course, we struggled at times, but we also shouted victory once we would master a certain skill. We would grumble over lengthy math lessons, but we would jump with excitement over learning the different kinds of birds that were in our yard. I was not only teaching him; he was teaching me as well!

Mother’s Day

Posted May 11th, 2008 by
Categories: Family

It’s Mother’s Day today. A day where we all take a step back and reflect on the one person who probably has shaped our lives the most. Our mothers. Whether our relationship with our mom is good or bad, she still has an unparalleled influence in our lives. It was she who gave birth to us. It was she who generally fed and bathed us, bought our clothes, washed our clothes and maintained the homestead.

It is, in fact a whole lot of work we generally take for granted. This Mother’s Day, let’s take that moment to thank our mother. To show appreciation for all the things she’s done that we never paid any attention to. To let her know that if we didn’t acknowledge all her hard work while we were growing up, we sure do now.

Here’s to you, MOM.
